Part 2: The Gathering Begins!
The excitement was palpable on September 18th. After a relaxing morning enjoying the Zuri Whitefield, I began to see what I’d traveled so far for: the arrival of my fellow Local Guides!
Since I was already staying at the hotel, I had the incredible chance to greet many LGs as they checked in. I first met the energetic crew from Maharashtra, followed by my wonderful Local Guides family from Gujarat. The air was buzzing with introductions, quick hugs, and the shared excitement of what the next few days held.
A Secret Mix-Up and a Speedy Recovery
The official fun kicked off with a quick, fun game of Secret Santa at 3 \text{ PM}, and then it was time to head to the Google Ananta office for the welcome event!
Most attendees boarded the shuttle buses, but traveling with my baby, I took a cab. In a classic moment of travel confusion, I accidentally landed at the Carina office instead. I spent nearly 45 precious minutes searching, only to realize my mistake—the party was at Ananta!
Finally, The Welcome Event!
A quick cab ride later, I finally reached the correct location, grabbed my official ID card, and rushed in!
I arrived to find the “Take One, Leave One” activity already underway. The sheer number of Local Guides was astounding! Seeing so many passionate contributors from different states and even other countries gathered in one place was truly inspiring.
We immediately jumped in, taking photos, sharing our items for exchange, and soaking in the global Local Guides energy.
After an evening of connecting and sharing, we wrapped up the welcome event with a delicious dinner before heading back to the hotel, feeling energized and ready for the main days ahead.
