Note: Lynne is no longer attending Connect Live 2019.
Lynne Campo ( @lynneannec )is a Level 8 Local Guide from Mandeville, Louisiana, USA. Lynne is a retired psychiatric and mental health registered nurse with an active lifestyle. She has been contributing since 2016.
Her passions for Google Maps and exercise go hand-in-hand. “I am in the best shape of my life and being a Local Guide is helping me reach my fitness goals!” Lynne wrote in her Connect Live application post. “Over the last year and a half, I’ve increased from walking a max of 1 mile to 9 miles and I use my walks to upload photos along the way.”
Lynne was nominated to be Connect Live Attendee of the Week by @AlexandreCampbell who wrote, “Lynne Campo has touched me so much with her call for seniors to become Local Guides. She is enthusiastic and joyful.”
Lynne believes Local Guides is the perfect program for retirees. “It keeps you active and involved in your community,” she wrote on Connect. "It also gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of other seniors.”
You might have noticed Lynne’s motivational signature on Connect says, “Do what it takes.” Her enthusiasm and can-do attitude are also front and center in her Connect Live application video:
Lynne is really excited for Connect Live 2019 in November. “I look forward to meeting other volunteers at Connect Live who are as passionate about Local Guides as me!” she wrote in her Connect Live application. “I’m going to love surrounding myself in such a rich cultural environment with people who have had such varied life experiences. I love Google Maps so much—it opens the world to everyone—and I want to learn how to do a better job in my small part of that world.”
Outside of Local Guides, Lynne is passionate about helping people with disabilities. She has a 39-year-old daughter with an expressive language disorder and cognitive impairment. She previously worked as a certified psychiatric and mental health registered nurse, educator, and supervisor.
“While working with clients aged 6 to 62, many with dual diagnosis of mental illness and cognitive impairment, I felt a deep compassion for my clients that stemmed from the experiences of caring for my child,” Lynne told me.
Now Lynne is proud to continue her advocacy as a Local Guide by promoting accessibility on Google Maps as a member of the One Accessibility Alliance on Connect.
