[Connect Live 2020 Submission] From Local Guide to Photographer!

Dear all who are reading this,

Hope you have a great day ahead! Without further ado, let’s start!

My name is Wil Son and I am from Malaysia.

I actually founded the local guides by accident one day due to the frequent business trip that I have previously; when going for business trip, it is usually to location that I am not well-versed of, as such I have to constantly rely on Google Map for this.

When on business trip, obviously I wouldn’t want to miss the chance to capture some pictures along. This is where the local guide came into my life. Upon completing navigation one day, Google Map was asking to share some of pictures so others can know how it looks like; I was like “Why not? since I have already taken the pictures in phone, might as well just upload it for others to see”.

From that day onward, I keep uploading pictures to places that I have been to, and it was this spark that ignited the passion of photography in me.

I started buying my first ever camera, SONY A5100 with kit lens, from there keep improving…

… and now not only photography has become my most loved hobby, but also a source of income, now I am a shooting landscapes as hobby, while taking on event photography as source of income!

As such, the Local Guides program definitely means a lot to me and will forever be in my heart!

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Google for having this platform of sharing, without it I wouldn’t be doing what I am doing today!

Before I end my story, here’s one of my most favorite shot from my beloved country and home, Malaysia.

If you enjoy landscape pictures, feel free to drop me a follow at https://www.instagram.com/hellowws/ for more!

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Wil Son
