Hello, can you add the ability to export “My community content” and “My personal information” from Connect’s advanced settings into Google Takeout as well? Adding it will make data portability and backup simpler and overall keep Google’s data management process more simple. Make there be
the ability to disable or enable the takeout of community and personal data under content options, and the ability to have Connect settings taken out as well. Connect data should either be it’s separate category or be part of the Maps Takeout.
@kayvonk Local Guides Connect is hosted on Khoros, a 3rd party platform, so not sure if it’s possible to include it in Google Takeout.
If you want to download your data, you can go to your settings https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/user/myprofilepage then click on Personal Information . Scroll down and you’ll see an option to download My Community content and My Personal Information
Edit: just realized OP already mentioned the My community content and My personal information download feature in the post. Apologies. Keeping it since it might still be beneficial for others.
I completely agree with this request! Like many of you, I’ve found the raw Google Takeout data (the JSON and CSV files) to be incredibly frustrating to use. It’s our hard-earned history, but it’s trapped in a format that isn’t visual or easy to navigate.
As a fellow Local Guide (and a software engineer by day), I got tired of waiting for a built-in solution, so I actually spent my weekend building a small utility to solve this for my own map.
I’ve integrated a Free Legacy Importer into my app, LevelUpLocal, specifically to handle these Takeout files. It parses the JSON and plots all your historical reviews as blue ‘Legacy’ pins on a physical map. It’s been so rewarding to finally see my years of global footprint visualized in one place instead of just staring at a spreadsheet.
If anyone else is struggling to make sense of their Takeout export, feel free to give it a try. I made the visualization part completely free because I think we all deserve to actually see our impact on the map!
Unofficial tool, but built with a lot of Local Guide love. Happy to help anyone who has questions on how to get their JSON file into the map!
