As I understand, Connect operates on a third-party solution of social media connectivity & that’s the reason why the team can’t do much to fix the speed issue.
Further, the content is rich in photos. That adds more to the slowing down.
Notwithstanding, you can try the following solutions to improve speed.
Open the site directly through a browser instead of the Progressive Web App.
Use “Lite” or data saver mode.
Maintain a practice to clean the cookies & browsing history, periodically.
Minimize background apps & services. If possible, do disable browser extensions when possible.
Use Google DNS for quicker resolution of domain names.
I am already doing some of the suggestion like cleaning the cookies, almost no background apps still I will try the suggestions given by you.
But I would like to tell you that even if I reboot the phone and operate the web app it’s slow… Like when I click bell icon it takes almost 3 seconds to change the response from app and so on for other options also.
May be google can create a separate app like maps, sheets etc…
