and the other place has 1300+ reviews under public beach category with normal map marker symbol (here)
It is quite confusing where to add my review also when I tried uploading the video the location automatically detected the place with 400 reviews and my video got uploaded there.
I tried to merge them by editing as duplicate location but it is not getting applied.
Unfortunately this is a kind of issue that happens several time, especially on the beaches.
Dana pani beach is a place, a Geographical Location (not a POI) that, due to his particular attributes, can have photos and reviews added in there. The same happens with Rivers, Islands and other geographical features.
Dana Pani Beach is a Business Listing. Is the place managed by someone, who provide some service (e.g renting beach umbrellas and sunbeds) ?
If not, the POI should be removed as “not existing” even if this will be extremely difficult ot achieve.
I don’t know if the team can “merge” the two places, for sure we cannot.
You can try to report an error on Google Maps, through the “send a feedback” that you will find scrolling down your menu on Google Maps.
Yes, @FalguniP , but only for specific categories of places, like rivers, lakes, seas, islands, as they are considered “Natural features” and this way is possible to avoid people to add their own POI
If after that you want my personal opinion, I find it quite weird.
However, if you want to add a photo of write a review of the Indian Ocean , here is the Link
If now your face says “OMG”, well, this is exactly what I think about that. I personally hope this function will be kept ONLY for small, limited places
@ErmesT 's advice to send feedback about the duplicate location is correct! You can also share what you’ve found (together with the relevant links) on the Google Maps Help forum. Thank you!
