Confessions of a foodie: Discovering cultures through food, one city at a time

It’s hard to narrow down what I’m passionate about in one specific topic, especially when it comes to food… I’m a self-identified foodie and proud of it!
If there is one thing that can describe me, is being a risk taker and the fact that I like to discover new things and I don’t shy away from the unknown. When it comes to food, there is nothing really I won’t try: from eating raw squid cooked on a makeshift grill outside of a Thai temple, or eating grasshoppers, worm tacos and “Mexican caviar” (essentially ant eggs), to trying a carte-blanche menu at a fancy restaurant. I love to eat, and I have the pictures to show it!
I can’t pick one type of food that I love either, because I can easily eat Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Thai or French, I’ll eat it all if it’s good (especially if it’s during brunch). I like to try new places (new for me, not specifically new in the city) and am always on the lookout for great new places to test either by myself, with friends or family too.
Moreover, I truly believe the only way to get to know a city and see its heart, is through its food; so I have made it my personal mission for the past 2 years whenever I’m in my city or traveling, to research good, authentic, traditional, trendy or even fusion places to grab a bite to eat (or drink), test it out for myself and then leave an objective review on Google Maps so people after me who are looking for a great place to eat, might read it and it will help them choose.
I consider myself to be a Global Local Guide, as I am a Mexican/German living in Paris, there is no better title more fitting than this, and it matches the era we are all living in which through technology you can easily be a local even where you are a tourist!
