Today in the evening I visited one of my favorites parks in all of Kingston. The park is named “Confederation Park” and it’s located downtown right across the City Hall. The park holds a small stage where many musical bands play during the summertime. There are benches areas and even open spaces where you can picnic or just simply sit down and enjoy the view. There are so many bars and restaurants around the park, hotels, and the city offer tours once you hop on one of those cruises which are accessible right now right beside the park. Also, from very nearby you can take a ferry that would take you right to wolf island which is right across. Also, there is a fountain in the park.
One of the really cool things I discovered today is that the parks hold a fortress which is part of the Kingston Fortifications National Historic Site of Canada which goal was to serve as a defensible platform for guns and as a result oversee the St.Lawrence River and Lake Ontario.
Another cool fact about the site is the famous Train build as a result of Canada’s prime minister Sir. John A. Macdonald who had the vision to build Canada’s first transcontinental railway. I believed the first train had steam ran locomotive. Many people always take photos around the area and even post beside the train. It’s quite impressive and the city conserves it in great condition.
Another thing that I really like about the park and area tonight was the waterfront patios that you could now access as per COVID-19 restrictions which limit the number of guests that can be dinning inside. Also, the cruise that is litten you can actually dine in and was open might be through reservation only.
In addition, another pretty cool thing about the park is seeing that lighthouse, it’s not working as per se but it does look pretty good also yacht that is in the duck the owners tend to make small parties over the weekend and as you are walking by there is live music, people conversing and is just very social and entertaining.
Overall, the environment felt just right and it was such a nice and warm summer night. It really felt more like back to the life that we were used to be living as a society before the virus hit, as we are now on stage 3.
