In doing a Google Security check, Google stated that my password here is comprimised.
In Google Security, it shows me the “password”, but it’s def not one I’ve ever seen/used before. I came here to update my password, but I can’t find any place to do this.
Where can I update myt password for Local Guides Connect?
When I use Google Security to check my accounts, it clearly states (image below) that Local Guides Connect is compromised. If that means it’s my primary Google account that’s compromised, I’ll change that password ASAP (but it sounds like they’re the same?).
Curious if anyone else is experiencing/sees this when they do a Google Security check?
When Connect first started it did have its own passwords @JR_Curley@ErmesT but was altered to single sign on with your Google Account a few months after it was initially launched to the people asked to come and test it out but before it went widely public. It might be that password. I don’t know how you could actually change it now that we have SSO turned on. It used to be on this screen https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/user/myprofilepage/tab/personal-profile
Thanks @PaulPavlinovich That link you shared takes me to my profile page, which shows my username, but I don’t seen any area I can see/update my password.
When I go through Google Security, I can actually see the username and password that it’s stating is “compromised”, and I don’t recognize either. It doesn’t show an ID number. Paul, do you know if there was a generic username/password used for an “admin” type account? What I’m seeing looks more like it’d belong to an admin vs. a random person.
Is there anyone from Google who can help with this? I’d rather not have to change my main Google password when I don’t even know if doing that will solve this issue.
Perhaps @InaS can help with this. You might need to share some details directly @JR_Curley if this is necessary Ina might contact you off platform.
For Ina’s benefit, JR is one of the founding Local Guides and likely had access to Connect as part of the early access that a few hundred if us were involved in. At that time Connect did have it’s own localised password.
Thanks for reaching out. To help you secure your accounts, Google can notify you if it finds any of your saved passwords that could be weak/reused or is compromised. Since on the newer version of Connect, you don’t have a password for your account, and you directly log in with the Google account, we would highly suggest you change your Google account password.
When I click on “Change Password”, it literally just auto-takes me into Local Guides Connect. There is no way to change any password from this button.
When I click on “View Password”, it shows me a password that I never created.
When I click on “Update Saved Password”, it shows me a Username and Password, neither that I recognize. The Username is NOT my username.
I’ve included a screenshot below, but I replaced the Username with a generic “NOT MY USERNAME” in this image, as I’m unsure if the other username should be shared publicly. The actual username present in this field doesn’t look like a username someone would use outside of a Google Employee.
Should I try to update both the Username and Password here, even though neither are mine? What does the language below mean about “Make sure the password you’re saving matches…”?
Any update @InaS to my question below, “Should I try to update both the Username and Password here, even though neither are mine? What does the language below mean about “Make sure the password you’re saving matches…”?”
