It was like 20 years ago, when I dragged my suitcase, walked on the street in Marseille, grabbed a paper map in my left hand and still lost direction.
I was tired and sweaty. Before finding my hostel I would rather like to have a coffee and rest a little first.
Of course I didn’t make it. Didn’t see one and my French was not good enough to ask the informations I need.
Eventually I arrived the hostel. I don’t remember how much time I spent, but I remember how desperate and how helpless during the searching process.
I don’t even have photo to share here! At that time, people still took photo by camera and film, and those photos, I think they are in a tin box somewhere deep in my mom’s house.
This was my miserable experience. But things were totally different when I went Athen in 2017.
I don’t have to describe how easy it was, with an iPhone and Google maps. I can find everything: the directions, nice little shops with good reviews, great ice cream. Everything.
People nowaday use all these services well and take it for granted. Young man, like my nephew, just couldn’t understand how I appreciated digital maps and attached informations SO much.
Alright I think it’s enough about recalling those old days. But anyone know what I mean?
