I hope you are doing great and this post finds you well. Before starting this post, I would like to express gratitude to @AdrianLunsong for taking this beautiful initiative and for throwing the great Community Love Challenge among the Local Guides.
About ME:
My name is Shah Md. Sultan (Nickname is Shahed), an active Local Guide (level 9) from Bangladesh ?? . I’m from Jamalpur district and currently, I’m living in Gazipur district. I’m a Local Guide since 2016. I like traveling, taking photos and having fun with my family and friends.
I joined the Local Guides program to share my country’s glorious culture and heritage sites with other Local Guides. Besides, always I wanted to explore many countries through this beautiful platform.
Introducing my town
YES, I want to introduce my beautiful hometown here and my hometown name is Jamalpur. Jamalpur is a district in Bangladesh, part of the Mymensingh Division. It was established in 1978. Google Maps link: here
According to historical sources, during the reign of Emperor Akbar of Delhi (1556-1605), a missionary named Hazrat Shah Jamal (Rh) came to the region from Yemen with 200 followers to spread Islam. Later, as a religious leader, he quickly gained prominence. It is believed that the city was named Jamalpur after Hazrat Shah Jamal (Rh).
Why my district is the best:
Jamalpur is the name of an old town in Bangladesh and an important district in our country. In fact, Jamalpur district is famous for Nakshi Kantha (a type of embroidered quilt) and copper bronze industry. The Nakshi Kantha is a distinct part of Bengali culture. Nakshi means to design, pattern, or embroidery and Kantha is the Bengali word for the quilt. So, Nakshi Kantha is a kind of embroidered quilt especially made by village women.
Jamalpur district is a market center for local rice, sugarcane, jute, tobacco, and mustard. The town’s main exports are jute, tobacco, mustard seed, peanut, leather, egg, pulse, betel leaf, and handicrafts.

Pera Sandesh is a rich traditional food name of Jamalpur. It’s a dessert item. In fact, in Sharishabari Upazila of Jamalpur, no one makes a mistake to taste this dessert. Para Sandesh is the pride of the region. Most of the sweet traders of Sarishabari Upazila have been making this para Sandesh since the time of their ancestors.
