As promised in the post for Community Live, we are bringing to you several exciting challenges which we hope will be fun for everyone! This is the first challenge that we are releasing with more to come very, very soon!
The Challenge:
So, what is the Community Love Challenge all about?! Well, 2020 has been a tough year for everyone! And I wanted to take this opportunity to pause, reflect and just try our best to see things in a more positive light! So this challenge is all about showing our appreciation for one another, for the local businesses that continue to serve us and for the amazing towns/villages/cities that we live in.
Requirements:
Please choose ONE of the following prompts and submit a post on Connect, under Local Stories:
- Tell us your favourite moment(s) from 2020 that you’ve experienced in the Local Guides community.
- Tell us how you, as a Local Guide, are supporting local businesses in your neighbourhood.
- Tell us why your village/town/city is the best.
Note: If you’re feeling super motivated you can write extra posts on all three prompts!
Your post can be inany language as we have the awesome built-in Google Translate tool to help us understand each other. Yay to diversity!
Please include at least one picture in your post. Your picture needs to be related to your topic and also must be taken by you. In fact, the content of your post (texts and pictures) need to meet the “original content” guidelines!
Here are some general tips, if you need them:
- Pick an interesting title for your post! Copying the exact words from the prompt is not very creative!
- A word count of about 500 words is about perfect. 200 words is too short. For context, this post is 734 words long.
- Don’t forget to add useful links whenever suitable (links to Google Maps location, links to your map reviews etc)
And if you’re struggling to figure out what to write about, here are some specific tips for each prompt.
Tell us your favourite moment(s) from 2020 that you’ve experienced in the Local Guides community.
- Introduce yourself
- Introduce your Local Guides community, how big is it, how active is it
- Give us examples of the activities you would do together, share links to recap posts
- Tell us your favourite moment(s) that you’ve had with your community, share photos
- Why was it special to you
- Was there a specific Local Guide that helped you the most
- Take the opportunity to thank your community and wish them all the best for 2021
Tell us how you, as a Local Guide, are supporting local businesses in your neighbourhood.
- Introduce yourself
- Introduce the place that you live in, it is a busy/quiet place, is it old/new, share a Google Maps link
- Is COVID affecting the local businesses?
- Tell us what you’ve done, as a Local Guide, to help your local businesses
- Give us at least one specific example by including a link to the local business and/or your review
- How do you think your contributions will help
- Is this something that you would like to more off
- Take this opportunity to thank your local businesses and wish them all the best for 2021
Tell us why your village/town/city is the best.
- Introduce yourself
- Introduce your village/town/city, what is it like, share a Google Maps link
- Explain why you think it’s the best: is it famous for anything
- Give some examples of tourist attractions, share reviews/photos
