Hello @ErmesT , I found few posts with the comment section disabled although few of the comments already existed. Was that disabled by the moderators or by the one who posted it himself? If it is the later one then how is it done? And also if by the moderators then what was the cause?
Sometimes ordinary things are overlooked.
Hey!! @Emon_Dhungana
Check This.
We can’t have authority and privilege to locked our own post comments.
The Local guides connect 1.0 's all posts are locked.
And the introduction post of the month also locked because they all are only for one month.
There are many reasons to be your post or any post has been locked.
Some are,
- The thread will be over long, then moderator locked that thread.
- Some Questions in the post are useful, but the comments are not healthy, harsh or insulting. And some times breaking local guides program rules, so in that case for stopping the unnecessary conversation, the post has been locked by moderator.
- Non useful discussion or seems like bit didn’t related to local guides, that all type of things locked by moderator.
- If your post has been locked, google moderator write the comment and informed you.
- Still I didn’t see that in idea exchange. The idea’s comments are still opened. And we are able to write our comments on different local guides ideas.
Google moderator can do this.
The purpose of the post, if have been completed like introduction yourself- month,
It has been locked.
And we are not able to write comments there.

Hello @Emon_Dhungana
The originator of a post can’t lock those for comments.
Only moderators can do so.
When some conversations turn controversial, moderators do lock those from further comments instead of making those off-topic, as the original post remains relevant.
In any case, we can’t comment on any posts from Connect 1.0.
Yes, a post can be locked for comments by a Google Moderator.
There are several reasons for a thread to be locked for comments, but in any case the moderator will always let us know that the post has been locked.
Just to give you an example, this thread (Local Guides new Garden - Share your Photo of Flowers here ) has been locked because it was extremely long, with 1789 replies, and replaced by Local Guides Garden - 3rd Edition . Of course, if you reach my last reply of the old post , you will read "As the thread is becoming very long, we will close it, to start a new one"
If you find an old post and need to make a new relevant comment or question you can do so by creating a new post and in the post share a link to the old post for reference.
Cheers
Morten
Thank you all the LGs who have been here with helpful solution/idea.
Hey @Emon_Dhungana ,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
As @KishorMali provided most of the reasons why a post could be with locked comments, I am accepting his answer as a solution. If you have a concrete publication in mind you want to know about, don’t hesitate to share the link.
