Colourful star trails

A star trail is a type of photograph that uses long exposure times to capture the apparent motion of stars in the night sky due to Earth’s rotation.
A star-trail photograph shows individual stars as streaks across the image, with longer exposures yielding longer arcs.
Typical shutter speeds for a star trail range from 15 minutes to several hours, maybe requiring a “Bulb” setting on the camera to open the shutter for a period longer than usual.

Hey @LuXDAmore ,

I havent tried doing a long exposure on the starts yet. Is there any advise you can give me?

I saw that your shutter speed was set on 15 minutes. What aperture did you use on the photo you posted? What about the ISO number?

Thanks!

Hey @GeorgesHR , sorry for my late reply!

I don’t exactly remember the answer (about this photo), because it’s a frame that i’ve exported from the entire startails process (VISIBLE HERE).

I usually set the minimum available ISO (depends on camera), and then, i take some test-photos to check for the right aperture!

Hope this helps

Hi @LuXDAmore ,

This looks really cool, and thanks for the tips! I’m going to give this a shot myself.

I’m just letting you know that I have relabelled your post to Photography as your tips are about this particular style of photography.
