Hello, Local Guides,
In the last week of September, I got an invitation from the Tourism department of Provisional Government Sindh, The objective of this program was to take the people involved in this field to the spot and give them a full briefing on what they have done and want to do in the promotion of tourism. They want to invite those people who are promoting the Cultural and Tourism of Sindh Pakistan by different social media channels. And Google Maps Contributors were top of the list for them, other than us there were accustomed tourists, bloggers, YouTubers, and Vloggers. For this initiative, I would like to thank @mariazaib and @memonsaeed who suggested my name to represent the Local Guides Community from Pakistan.
I immediately confirmed with my fellow local guides @user_not_found
and @Bilal_shaikh and asked them to join us, and they also decided to join us.
The invitation was to explore different tourist interests of Sindh and know about the actual story behind each place.
As I described in my previous post Amazing Sindh #statechallenge, Sindh is a land with thousands of years old history. Mohen Jo Daro, Bhambhore, Makli, Shahjahan Mosque, Ranikot Fort, Chowkandi Graveyard, Jain Temples in Thar are witnesses of different Eras.
The trip was scheduled for Sunday, 27th September 2020, and the occasion was World Tourism Day. We were around 50 people who all reached at 10 am at PITHM, which was the first meeting point for us.
Here we met our wonderful friend RJ @Ali_Ahmad_Jaan & Pride of Pakistan award winner Photographer @EmmanuelGuddu who were with us in whole trip in the same bus
The journey started from the Clifton, building of the Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, an institution run by the Sindh Tourism Department. It is probably the largest institution of its kind in Pakistan in terms of observation. Students get regular degrees here and find their future in this popular tourism and hotel industry for their futures. The great impression by Organizers and officials formed at the beginning of the journey continued till the end.
All of the destinations which we want to explore on that day were in Thatta District.
The former capital of Sindh the cradle of literature history and prosperity for the province now a very small town having ruminants of its rich past and the famous cemetery of Makli and Shah Jahan Mosque.
We all divided into two Buses and began our wonderful journey from Clifton Karachi towards Shahra E Faisal.
It took almost two hours when we arrived at our first destination which was Haleji Lake.
Haleji Lake is a freshwater lake in Thatta District of Sindh Province. It is 6.58 sq km in size and is encircled by seepage lagoons. Lake Haleji was a saltwater lake until 1930, then started to be used as a reservoir for fresh water stores of Karachi.
Our first stop was at the Tourism Department Huts Haleji.
There we met for the very first time with an awesome person & Local Guide from Pakistan. We have always wanted to meet him, Mr. @amarfayaz . If you are searching any historical or ancient place of Sindh province the first image, especially 360 photos you will see, all will be by Mr. Amar Fayyaz.
There we captured a lot of photos and 360 photos as well, which we added on Google Maps. There we had a delicious lunch of Chicken Tikka and Naan.
After lunch, we started our journey again towards The most historical and serene place, Makli Graveyard.
Makli Graveyard is a witness who has seen dozens of civilizations over hundreds of years. And there are an estimated one million graves here, From kings to the poor are laid to rest in Makli Graveyard.
Since Makli Cemetery is on a very vast area, the Sindh Tourism department organized small electric vehicles like Golf Cars in which ten to twelve people can easily visit around the entire cemetery.
That proves that A lot is being done to attract and promote tourists to develop Sindh tourism. In Makli graveyard we visited the famous ruler Isa Khan Tarkhan’s tomb, and we all took a lot of pictures of this historical monument.
We had a tea break at the STDC office in Makli graveyard, and then our destination was the famous ShahJahan Masjid in Thatta city.
ShahJahan Masjid was constructed by Mughal King & ruler ShahJahan started its Construction in 1644 and completed the construction in 1647.
The total area of this mosque is about 6316 square yards. It has a total of 5 gates, A central big one with 2 smaller ones on both sides, and the other two situated on the north and south sidewalls.
The mosque has a total of 100 domes, So it is locally also known as the 100-Dome mosque. There are 6 large and 94 small domes. It has also 94 pillars and each pillar is about 5 feet wide. (Courtesy @Muhammad_Usman )
ShahJahan Masjid has amazing features that there is no shortage of fresh air anywhere in the whole mosque And there is no fan and air-conditioned in the mosque even in the 36-degree temperature, no one felt so much hot in this mosque.
Here I met my friend and wonderful local guide @sheeraz , who came from another city Kotriwhich is far away from Thatha city.
Here also we took so many photos together especially the photographs of unbelievable designs on dooms of the Shahjahan Masjid.
After Shahjahan Masjid, our final destination was Keenjhar Lake. Which was the final destination of this fabulous trip. But before going forward I hope you will love to see a short Documentary about this amazing trip by Local Guide
RJ Ali Ahmad Jaan
We reached there at Kenjhar Lake Resorts around 5 pm, and quickly we started to arrange our Local Guides Meet-up at Keenjhar Lake. I shared a recap of this amazing knowledge-sharing meet-up just a couple of months ago when Mr. Amar Fayyaz shared his amazing knowledge and incredible experience with us.
After this great knowledge-sharing meet-up, we rushed to the open area where arrangements for Sindhi traditional cultural show were almost done, and the show was about to start. Mr. Sardar Shah shared some great insight about the history of the Sindh, he explained how Indus Civilization forms an important landmark in the prehistory of the Indian subcontinent and a lot of other useful information.
After this wonderful and full of Knowledge speech of Mr. Sardar Shah, there was an awesome and memorable folk music show, in which many famous folk singers performed their best. Even we couldn’t stop ourselves from dancing to these songs and music. You can spot Local Guides Dancing on tradional Music of Sindh at the end of the Video
Before dinner, we all got a participation certificate, which was a token of Love from Stdc for all of us…
Here are some unforgettable moments of this memorable trip to Sindh in This Google Photo Album Sindh Trip which was captured by us during our journey. This Journey was not Only gave us lots of fun, but honestly I learned alot about the province where I Live, especially the amazing history of Sindh, and Historical Places.
