While I am in “shelter-in-place” mode other than leaving my house to go grocery shopping every 10 days, being in my garden has given me the inspiration (and practice) to take photos using my Pixel 3XL. It’s been nice to see my spring gardening efforts captured in photos.
I enjoy using the phone’s Portrait mode for flower photography. The only negative when shooting in this mode is wind or any sudden movement. You and your object have to be completely still or you will get a blurry photo.
@KarenVChin Lots of beautiful photography. Every flower seems to be alive. In my opinion, gardening requires a beautiful mind and tasteful people. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
You are touching an interesting series of my favorite subjects with your post, @KarenVChin : Flowers, Colors and Photography
Roses are not yet blooming in my garden, but in my mother’s apartment building, where there is a different exposure to the sun, the roses are already wonderful.
But the great news of today is the bloom of my Amaryllis. We planted them 20 years ago (one vase) and year after year they have multiplied. Every three years we must therefore repot the bulbs, and add new pots.
A bulb of Amaryllis is now our present to the friends
At home I am enjoying my Pixel 3XL much more than my camera, because it is lighter, with a bigger screen, amazing colors and a lot of helping functions, like the inclination angle on my previous screenshot.
@KarenVChin Thank you for your shared flowers and photos… I am plant and planting lover too , which I have planted more than 400 flowers and trees just during last year up to now
These are some of recent results
Hi @KarenVChin,
thank you very much for sharing your good post. ? All your flower-photos are really beautiful. ?
It’s really nice to have a garden with so beautiful flowers and vegetable plants.
I have a Google Pixel 4 XL-smartphone and I take photos of flowers with it too in my neighborhood. I very like it. ? ?
Hi @KarenVChin thanks for sharing such beautiful vibrant colors. It feels like summer is here already (still in the 40s in Michigan). You must have a green thumb !
Thanks @ShohrabSahed for your lovely words. Do you like to garden or take pictures of flowers? Or both? What kind of camera do you use? Mobile or DSLR?
Thanks @TorM . Maybe try again. Good time to start a new hobby or revisit something you think you are terrible at. We have a lot more free time lately.
Having a garden is a great stress reliever besides having your own private “nature spot” to photograph. Never need to worry about when it opens or closes.
@OliverKIWI , what is the name those succulents? I have both indoor and outdoor succulents. They do not need much care. And I do like they come in all kinds of sizes, shapes, and colors.
@ErmesT , your mom looks she loves yellow or orange color roses. Those are harder to find in terms of color.
I have bulb envy, Any bulb plant that I have planted in the dirt has been eaten (or sucked in) by a gopher, which then reeks havoc in the yard. Very destructive!
In my area, I cannot grow hydrangeas either successful. I don’t have a lot of acidity in the soil (to make the flowers turn blue) or a lot of rain during the summer. My climate is Mediterranean-like. We only get rain late Fall - Winter. The rest of the year it is dry and sunny.
Hydrangeas need a lot of water and acidic soil (Lots of clay soil in the SF Bay Area).
For me, when I see Amaryllis flowers, I think Christmas and winter because it is sold as a “bulb” houseplant, usually the bulb is in a water bulb vase (no soil or in a pot), here. It is weird to see your in a pot and outdoors.
As for your cat, I keep telling you there is small child inside that “cat suit.” Amazing how quickly you took that photo with your Pixel and captured that moment. You got yourself a viral social media meme.
@Robert24 , how lovely you are volunteering to plant in your neighborhood park. I am sure you and your community will have beauty to look at for years to come.
