Very cold morning in Trim, still the frosty conditions can be interesting to see.

Hi @Jim_Allen ,
Great close ups! I really enjoyed the black and white photography. It gives the photos a bit more edge to them and an artsy feel. The first one, with the ice I believe, is really pretty.
Is this your favorite kind of photography to make? I sometimes find it challenging to do close ups. Well done!
Thanks!
Thanks. I agree that black & white photography can give a different feel to things. I think it works well for certain situations like if you want to highlight texture/pattern or a single subject in the picture.
I really enjoy taking landscapes pictures, however, I do like the challenge close-up can present.
Best, Jim
I agree and these kind of close-up photos can make for great prints! How do you prepare for this kind of photography? Did you apply editing afterwards?
Well, I do check the local weather report the night before, based on that I’ll pick a topic. The forecast this weekend included “ground-frost” so the topic I had in mind was frost or ice.
I had pictured grass fields, with a touch of frost in the morning light. I know several places with great fields, so that was the plan. Unfortunately, I found the frost on the grass was not visually what I had hoped for that morning.
The close-ups I think it’s just keeping an eye on the light and the background. You can have a great opportunity for a close-up but a terrible background could ruin it. Also, it greatly depends on the camera and preference, but I generally think close-ups with a manual focus instead of auto-focus tend to be better.
Best, Jim
