Coffee with the scene of Hawkins Lookout

G’Day from Australia!

After going through tons of inspirational posts here, I thought to take one step further. This is my first ever post.

I’m Arafat from Sydney, Australia. Apart from being full time technologist, I’m also a GREAT lover of nature and an avid learner of multiple cultures across the globe. I love to travel and explore places to make myself feel better and thankful.

Usually, every weekend, I try to explore some new place to hangout, eat and have fun. Last weekend was not very different when I stopped at the Hawkins Lookout on my way to my next destination (which I will be writing later about).

Hawkins Lookout

In 1961, this Lookout was acquired by Council and it was renovated in 2018 with the bigger platform so people can enjoy the mesmerizing view of Hawkesbury River with the cup of coffee / drink!

In addition to this, the renovation also included a steel artwork of a heritage bus, which is there to pay a tribute to a Mr. Fred Hawkins who used to run a bus service for people from Windsor to Wisemans Ferry. It’s reported that he used to stop at this steepest hill for his passengers so that they could have a look at this beautiful scenery. It is also being said that he used to water up his vehicle’s radiator during these breaks.

If you’re in Sydney and you want to go there, just open up your Google Maps, write Hawkins Lookout and drive safely. You can get easy car parking right in front of the lookout platform!

Until next spot

Welcome to Connect @ArafatTehsin and congratulations on your first post. I am also a Local Guide from Sydney Australia and often organise meet-ups. However, due to the worldwide COVID pandemic, lockdown laws and physical distancing, meet ups by me are on hold until it is appropriate and safe to do so. You are very welcome to join one of the very many Virtual Meet-ups being held by Local Guides from all over the world. Fellow Aussie @PaulPavlinovich from Melbourne, holds weekly photography meet-ups and @JustineE from Cairns, has hosted some awesome virtual meet-ups as well involving chocolate and candy. Yum. You should check the meet up page and join in. You will meet some amazing people from all over the world.

I totally agree @PennyChristie . In the absence of actual mast ups, the virtual ones have been a great way to stay connected, learn and have fun.
