• Views still accumulate just like any other photo, even when the place is closed. Although no one is now searching for the closed listing, actively indexed or is easily visible on Google Maps, the rate of increase dwindles to pretty much zero.
• If a place is marked Permanently Closed, those views do stay, and are still attached to the listing. They still contribute to your overall total and the listing remains for quite a period of time.
• However if a place is marked as either Spam or Never Existed, the photo is detached as the listing nominally disappears, and you’ll see that the photo is either pointing to an Unknown Place (Desktop Maps) or a certain map marker position, which will be instead View Place (Mobile Maps). I have seen many instances where photos of a ‘View Place’ are substantially high and for some reason doesn’t register to the total views of a map (you can add photos to a map marker position), however I have not tested that enough to make any informed deductions.

In my experience you can’t add pictures to a location when it is permanently closed. You have to report it open again if you want to add pictures. Hence I don’t think we should do it. Please reconsider which answer is the solution. The one selected does not give an answer to your question.

I doubt it will be helpful to others if we continue this line arguments. I’m just happy that you realized that new photos can not be added to places that are marked permanently closed. Often when we have questions and an answer is given by the way Google Maps is programmed, then that is a very authoritative answer.

@Austinelewex I get very confused when I start reading stories. yes or it is the most correct
that location does not work long time but on the map it was functional, I reported a few months ago that it is a bad gas pump and I put pictures to prove it, the last days I was and I did and the picture today I wanted to add and noticed that the location was closed.
I thought it is not fair to take pictures in a closed location, so I asked the question, I was surprised to find that I cannot add the picture after the local guide answered.
the matter was finally resolved
