Recently I was in Clogherhead and walked the headland walk starting from Port Oriel, it’s a magnificent walk of about 90 mins with views of steep cliffs and the Irish sea. Well worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

Hi @Jim_Allen
This place looks wonderful. I would love to go there to visit as I have never been to Ireland!
Apparently, people have a strong accent. Are you Irish or were you on vacation?

Beautiful Vista @Jim_Allen .
What kind of rock formations is that?
Hey @Jim_Allen ,
I love your photos, this place looks amazing! Thank you very much for sharing with our Community. Would like to share more details about the walk you’ve had?
I will move your post to the Travel board. This way, if someone is interested in visiting Clogherhead, your post will be available and helpful. Also, I will leave the photography tag and add outdoors tag as well.
Thanks. Have to admit ignorance on the type of rock formations - Pointy ones
Thanks, and I loved seeing the seals, although, not easy to take pictures when they are moving about in the water. Plenty of birds in that area as well.
Thanks
Well if you like nature and walks Ireland is a good place to visit, just keep in mind it also rains plantly here hence it’s so green.
Thanks
I live in Ireland, Co.Meath. Regarding the accent well, some area’s have stronger accents then others, I think the same is true for most nations though. Generally, we’re friendly and welcoming as a nation so don’t let the accent stop you from visiting.
Thanks for the compliment.
I started the headland walking trail during my last visit from the nearby harbour of Port Oriel back towards the village. The headland walk is on a type of nature conservation area, so it’s all very natural for the most part, now It depends on how well your walking is and how much exploring you do but I walked in about 90 mins I would say average might take longer. It’s along steep sea cliffs with breaks in the cliffs so you can climb down to get closer to the water if you are feeling adventurous, there are plenty of grey seals on the Port side of the walk and birds like Seagulls, Cormorants & Grey Herons.
The nearby small town/village also has a stretch of beach that can be wonderful to visit as well, particularly at sunset or sunrise.
Wow, amazing photos! Thank you for the provided information.I will continue following your posts with a lot of interest.

@Jim_Allen Based on your photos I can “smell” how it is there. I love this kind of nature. Barren and clear, with so many hidden attractions you only can discover when you spend time and do relax. Thanks for sharing.
