Climbing to Top of Mt. Popa

When you talk about traveling to Myanmar, you may list the ancient Bagan at the top of the list. Later you may know the Mandalay, which is the late city of the last kingdom of Burma. But I think most of the travelers and tourist will not include Mt. Popa in their list.

Mt. Popa is the old volcano and it was erupted in last 1000years ago. It is about 1,200m above sea level, and having its own ecosystem within the valley of old volcano. You can climb the top of Mt. Popa and feel the wide panorama view from the top.

In fact, the Mt. Popa is near to the ancient Bagan, about 1hr drive from there. To climb up the top of Mt. Popa, you will need a morning or if you wish more to stay and nearby of the Mt. Popa, it may a day. Total time of climbing is about 2-3 hrs from beneath of the mountain to the top and climb down from the top will be about 2hrs. The weather is the best in December, as no rain and temperature is the best in tropical country. If in raining season from June to October, you will probably face rain and climbing will be slippery. But you can see the stream down of rain water from among the forest on the way to the top of the mountain.
