Mount Katahdin is the highest mountain in the U.S. state of Maine at 5,267 feet. It’s the dominant view in Baxter State Park. I first climbed the mountain in September 2017 and instantly fell in love with climbing. While it’s not technically challenging, it’s a very good scramble and it opened up a new passion for me. I was determined to tell as many people about this mountain as I could.
I came back next year, this time with my wife and scrambled up the mountain on a different route, via the Hamlin Ridge Trail and descended down the Saddle.
If you want to try mountain climbing, this is a great place to start.
