The most interesting things that I’ve done as a local guide is picture, picture and pictures. Myself Gaurav Vishwakarma lvl.7 from Virar, a town near Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, India. The most easy stuff a local guide can opt to help is simply click a picture of the place and share it on Google maps (I prefer calling Gmap) I have been visiting so many places around and clicking their pic but never thought this could help someone in need until a local guide.
I understood my potential when one of my photo of Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad achieved 300k (now +500k) views on Gmaps. This achievement greatly boosted my confidence in photography. I posted screenshot of my achievement on insta story tagging Google Map & Local Guide insta accounts. This insta story made my fellow classmates and friends curious about the local guide program and next day in college they inquired me about everything. I’m sure I gave rise to more local guide like me.
This winter vacation,I happen to visit my native place - Varanasi. Guess what I scanned the entire city and clicked & uploaded alottt pictures. After me, my cousin sister is now an active local guide lvl.5 on Gmaps. We celebrated Christmas, New Year Eve*(sending you new year cake’s pic )*and local guide program together.
Uploading photos to Gmap helps people to identify the proper designated place they search for. Besides photos and photography, I have noticed some worthy change in my personality that i am proud of.
- I walk out confidently around.
- Click pictures with utmost comfort.
- Overcame my stage-fear.
- Became more blunt and honest with reviewing the place.
- Started reporting the fake photos/places on the Gmaps with no fear.
No doubt I’m improving in my photographic skill but still I want to learn more in this. I want to excell in this.
