“It is not possible to prevent users from adding pictures of your business, there is no such functionality, Google encourage people to post pictures of the businesses they patronize. Also, if you find pictures of your business that are inappropriate you can flag them for remove following the procedure.”
@SebaasC Could it possibly an issue with your internet connection? Were you able to to upload pictures to different locations? Maybe try on another network as well (WiFi / cellular, vice versa). Any issue with other internet activities?
And when you say didn’t upload, did you encounter any error? Sometimes the photos can be uploaded, but it will not be shown right away. If you didn’t encounter any error, I suggest wait a day or two and see if the photos show up.
Thank you for reaching out to us. As @C_T said, there is no way to prevent somebody from uploading photos on Google Maps, doesn’t matter if it is a claimed business or not.
Can you give me more details on your issue and maybe I can try to help you resolve it? Do you get some kind of error message when you try to upload the photo?
Lately, I have been very meticulous in keeping track of my pics uploaded to Google Maps. And I learned that some pictures somehow get rejected right away. We don’t get any notifications on this. They just don’t show up on the place when checking. It seems clear to me that the algorithm evaluating our pics has improved quite a lot recently. One new feature is that the algorithm now also checks the unique ID found in each and every digital photo. So reuploading a rejected photo makes no sense. It will not show up - not even under Your Contributions.
Understanding what triggers the algorithm to reject photos is still a big mystery to me. But from my records, it seems to happen to about 6% of the pics I upload. So I keep an album of those rejected pics with the intent to try to understand what triggers this.
I think we should discuss this in more detail sometime in the future. It might be necessary to share experiences to really understand.
