GOING to Puncak, Bogor, West Java enjoying the natural scenery of tea plantations, it might have been mainstream as a tourist attraction to relieve urban fatigue from Jabodetabek on weekends. In fact, if you want to explore deeper about the nature of Bogor, there are still many beautiful places with rural nuances that are still beautiful, such as at the end or border of Bogor Regency with Sukabumi Regency namely Ciwaluh Ecotourism Village, Watesjaya Village, Caringin, Bogor Regency. The reason, since two years ago local youth began to realize the beauty of natural potential in the region. Accompanied by one of the non-governmental organizations, they have slowly succeeded in managing their village as an environment-based tourism area that is worth visiting. Irmawati, 28, one of the young women from Ciwaluh Village, Wates Jaya Village, Caringin, Bogor Regency, said that the planned development of this tourist village was carried out for months until finally it was ready and worthy of tourists who needed that quiet atmosphere. “In addition to rice fields, coffee plantations and goat farms that visitors can see, there are also three potential curug (waterfall) attractions, namely Ciawi Tali, Cisadane and Cikaweni,” he said some time ago. According to him, so far three waterfalls located at the boundary of the Great Hall of Mount Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) are only visited by local residents. “Outsiders are rare, and no one even wants to come here. Now since the Ecotourism Village was created, many urban communities have come, even though the location is quite far,” he explained. Since becoming the village of Ecotourism, the surrounding residents who manage Ciawi Tali Curug have started applying tickets for visitors. Because Ciawi Tali is a relatively close, accessible, safe and comfortable waterfall for urban communities. As with the other two waterfalls, it is difficult to access because the terrain and nature are still wild. “The ticket is IDR 5,000 per person to enter the Ciawitali waterfall area and IDR 2,000 for parking tickets per motorbike. Well, the revenue generated from the ticket is used for the maintenance of the tourist area and the addition of needed facilities,” he said. Jaja, 59, another community of Ciwaluh Ecotourism Village hopes that the appointment of Curug Ciawitali can provide positive impact for them, including improving the economy of the residents. “We strongly support the development of ecotourism in Ciwaluh Village. Because many people are involved and the benefits are widely felt, starting from the provision of parking lots on the yard to typical village food products here,” he said. In fact, according to him, it is often the Jakarta residents who deliberately hold camping in the Ciwaluh Ecotourism Village area, although not as crowded as camping ground in other areas. “Yes, there are many young people from rural and urban areas to jointly learn about natural resource management here. I think it’s quite good for education as well as the area here,” he said. People who have lived from agriculture for decades, are only now aware of seeing the potential of ecotourism as something new and can help them improve the village economy. In addition, good ecotourism management is also considered to be able to support community agricultural activities, both in the fields and gardens. Some farmers there are now starting to develop agricultural activities, such as producing coffee and herbal products. The expanse of rice fields, green hills, and clear river water are signs that are still preserved in the natural beauty of Ciwaluh. Based on the demographic data of the Wates Jaya Village area (2014), the majority of the livelihoods of the residents of Wates Jaya Village are farmers (74.21%) and industrial workers (11.89%). The village which is flanked by four mountains (Gede, Pangrango, Halaman and Salak) has interesting natural attractions and is rarely visited. (haryudi)
