City Graffiti & Street Art: The Full Collection!

Graffiti and Street Art are two of my biggest passions while wandering in the city I live in or traveling around the world. Wherever I visit, I always pay attention to the small alleys and random corners and see if there’s anything special or unique waiting to be spotted. But why? Why graffiti and street art are special to me?

Animation of graffiti photos I took all around the world.

I do love the arts in museums or galleries (especially modern art and contemporary art). I appreciate beautiful paintings that are framed and hung on the smooth wall and are well-preserved under the well-set lights and temperature. It’s always enjoyable to take a leisure walk in a museum with air-conditioning in a hot summer, without being tortured or annoyed by the cruel sun or pouring rain.

So, why graffiti and street art? Unlike those artworks well displayed in a protected indoor space, they’re exposed under the sun, the wind, the rain, and could be possibly destroyed by anything. However, it also makes them the freest, the wildest, and the most approachable.

Below is my sharing list of city graffiti and street art! How do I name the article title graffiti or street art? For which articles showing only graffiti/murals are titled as “City Graffiti”, while those showing not only graffiti/murals but also random street arts are named as “City Street Art”. Have fun!

Hi @ChanneLing ,

Nice Graffiti images you posted. Seems you are fond with paintings and sculptures.

Here in New Delhi, graffiti art is a rare to find. But those sketches are really a gem. I’ve been to those places, but never clicked their pictures.

We have a government-run gallery in New Delhi named “National Gallery of Modern Art”, which has awesome paintings and sculptures related to Modern Art and contemporary themes. You can have a look at some of them.

Hi @ChanneLing ,
I really liked the topic of your post. I also love graffiti and street art. On my opinion that street art is more folk, vibrant, free than contemporary art in exhibition centers. After all, it creates the atmosphere of the city, it is always present in our life. No need to buy a ticket and plan time for going to the exhibition. You just take a cup of coffee to go and the art is already in you.

Hi @Tushar18 ,

Thanks for the comment. Though I’m not an art historian or expert, I do have a great passion for art (street art, contemporary art, and modern art especially), and I guess it’s all that matters? :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, thank you for sharing the gallery and these great photos with me. I’m sure it’d be one of my must-go destinations when I visit New Delhi!

Hi @katydarhel ,

Thank you for the comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the post!

And yes, I totally agree with you! That’s the charm of street art, being free, vibrant, approachable, and borderless. Everyone can see it, feel it, and appreciate it!

I read your article and found that you live in Belarus, right? I’ve always been being curious about Belarus and wanting to visit it. What’s your favorite graffiti piece in the city by the way?

Hi @ChanneLing,
Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, you are right, I live in Belarus. I am very glad that you want to visit the country. As for graffiti, here’s my love. This photo was taken by @OlgaKlimchik (unfortunately, I do not have my own photo). Graffiti made by street artist Cowek (if I’m not mistaken) based on Belarusian fairy tales.

Hi @katydarhel ,

Thank you for sharing this beautiful photo with me! There’re many themes or subjects graffiti could contain, and one of my favorites is the type that reflects local history, culture, or story. Though it may not be easy for a first time visitor to understand the symbolization it stands or the idea it elaborates, once we got it, the fulfilling feeling is incomparable. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @ChanneLing what a great collection! I’ll make sure to check out all the posts. Love taking photos of street art and graffiti. I am working to put together a collection of my city, too. Here’s my favorite mural so far: a typical rainforest macaw parrot surrounded by traditional tribal decoration patterns

Hi @ChanneLing ,
I have found an explanation for the author of this work. The creation of this work was inspired by the birth of a child. This house symbolizes the family hearth. Couple, man and woman draw energy from the universe.

Hi @kroza ,

Thank you for sharing this amazing graffiti with me! I like the idea of this painting. It looks like a fun low digital resolution image from a closer sight, but I’m sure it looks beautiful from a further sight too!

And I can’t wait to see the collection of your city! Please @me whenever you publish it :D!

Oh wow @katydarhel , thank you a lot for sharing the meanings behind with me. It brings me a different, well, or more correctly, an original perspective to appreciate this artwork. I didn’t know that it’s about absorbing power from the universe to give birth to live. And now this painting makes perfect sense to me.

Using the search function on Connect, I have found this interesting initiative shared by @YoAnotzin , which I hope you will like as much as I did: Murales del Barrio El Alto, contando viejas historias.
