City Graffiti: Kaohsiung, the Largest Port City of Taiwan

Last month, during the Christmas holidays, I traveled to Kaohsiung City, the largest port and the second-largest city in Taiwan, for a wonderful trip. Though it’s not my first time been this place, it’s indeed my first ever travel purpose trip, not for anything else but just for fun! Some people may also notice, it’s the first Taiwan City Graffiti article outside of Taipei City!

As a street art lover, street art graffiti is one thing I must research before departure for the destination, and the Pier 2 Art Center is my top 2 to-go place in Kaohsiung. Wait, where’s the top 1 then? Let’s leave it to the next article (wink). Back to the track, Pier 2 is a district that consists of three groups of former warehouses featuring galleries, exhibition spaces, designer workshops, independent boutiques, and, of course, outdoor art installations and graffiti!

Today’s location

The Pier2 Art Center (駁二藝術特區 in Mandarin), a vibrant open art space by the sea-side in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Among al****l the graffiti pieces above, which one is your favorite?

Hello @ChanneLing ,

Thank you for sharing these amazing photos with us. I love that every single street art has got its own style and yet all so beautiful!

Did you take these pictures a bit everywhere, in different areas of the city, or it is a kind of an art district? Do you have a favorite one?

I’m sharing with you a photo of a street art that I took in Paris, hope you will like it!

Hi @BorrisS,

Thank you! The graffiti you shared looks amazing, especially the later one, which plays angle vision tricks.

As for the graffiti I shared in this article, there’re all taken in the Pier 2 Art Center district. The district consists of 3 groups of warehouses, and each of them has different vibes and focus. The first few pictures were taken in my favorite area where is right by the pier and has many outdoor art installations like my favorite one is as below.

Thank you for the details @ChanneLing .

Such districts are like open-air museums! Simply amazing!

Great photos! From your photos thePier 2 Art Center district it looks like being a really interesting place to visit @ChanneLing . Were you just lucky, or was it timing, your patience or the impact of COVID-19 that meant that the area was virtually empty of any people? By the way, the art piece I like most is the worker graffiti.

Hi @AdamGT ,

Thanks!! Glad you like the photos!

The day I went was a workday so the whole district was pretty empty. Only a few tourists wandering around like me and my friends lol. The place is quite packed on weekends.

Hi @jayasimha78 ,

Yesssss! Street art is so much fun! Thanks for the comment and for sharing the beautiful graffiti picture with us.

Awwwww San Francisco! Such an amazing destination for all street art amateurs! I really miss my trip there in 2019. I really need to write an article about it!

Exactly! And one thing I love about street art is that it’s so down-to-earth yet holds the power to inspire people who are fortunate enough to see it.
