Citizens Need More Of Zero Utility Pay Policies If They Are To Servive The Corona Crisis.

#Is_Giving_Citizens_6KGs_Of_Posho_And_4KGs_Of_Beans_A_Sustainable_Hunger_Solution_To_The_COVID_Crisis?
My Government embarked on giving relief food to whom they called the volunarable people. Let me not go into details of how the relief is being slow at delivery and the posho being a very poor quality feed but with a question of if this will be sustainable or the government needs to act with more of Policies that limite citizens spending!
Yes, thank you for the food that is not going to last for so long given the nature of Ugandan families. Two, thank you government for getting cheers for investing not more than 20K per citizen. Its hurting but let us think about this. The total give away to citizens by the government is just 20k or less and that is $5.4 to go through this state of lockdown we are not even aware that by the end of the 14day, COVID-19 will be myth.

My view into this, is,

The government should look at the daily necessities of citizens and zero or highly mute taxes such that citizens can access these necessities.

Ugandans ‘Social medically’ attacked a woman who asked that the relief task force should also provide charcoal to them if they are to cook the posho. Her statement clearly calls us all to have attention on the worrying level of Poverty of the citizens and two, the high costs that are still tagged on the utilities.

Look at this simple maths

A quarter of the posho and beans can be cooked using 2000 shillings charcoal. There are 24 quarters in a 6KG sack of Posh meaning,
=2000(shs)*24(quarters)= 48000(shs)

Meaning the money needed to make the meals ready doubles and mores the total relief cost the government gave to citizens.

Am not going to talk about the other necessities like power, water, medicare, rent and others.

I think, we need more of citizens’ zero spending policies during this world chaos and crisis.

What do you think?
