Cisterns

The desert people used to Cisterns in the past for public access to water.
In every neighborhood, there was a Cistern and every day people used it.

I have visited two Cisterns–Cisterna Basilika and Cisterna Feodosiya in Istanbul.

I would like to know where does the water go to the Cisterna in desert?

How msny old this Cistern!?

They are always shruoded in mystery.

They transport water through the underground and access it through the stairs.
