I would like to suggest you read the following tips for uploading images and Add, remove, or share photos and videos on Connect. You could try to use the URL or use the option for HTML instead of the Rich Text Editor. You could try also to edit the size of the image and change the width.
By the way, you could try rotating the photos on your device before uploading them on Connect, even if they are already vertical. In this case, just do one full rotation to return to the original position.
