One of the traditions of Christmas is decorating the homes with Christmas lights and holiday decor both inside and outside the house. Some residents make extra effort with these decorations. In some cases a whole block or a streets are famous for these decorations. There are several such streets in San Francisco Bay Area.

Christmas Tree Lane in Alameda, CA is one of them. It is located in East Bay, 3200 Thomson Avenue, Almeda, CA to be specific. The whole block is decorated with Christmas lights and holiday decors.

In fact the lights and decorations are on from December 3rd to New Year’s Eve.

Many people from the bay area visit this street, you can drive through the street and also walk after finding a street parking. Finding parking during weekends can be challenging.

Even though this is the first time I visited Christmas Tree Lane, this tradition is going on from 1938. In fact on Google Maps you can add photos to this location! You may find my pictures over there.

I will share some of the pictures I have captured during my visit. You can also check out this album for all the pictures.

Thank you @jayasimha78 for sharing with us this very special street in San Francisco and for joining in with this year’s #ChristmasInMyCity 2022 challenge. There’s certainly a lot of variety of displays in that street. Thanks for capturing the vibe so well and sharing it with us. It certainly makes for a wonderful atmosphere when all the people in the street participate in such a way to bring such joy to everyone each year.

This street reminds me of Melbourne’s own The Blvd in Ivanhoe. I wrote about it a few years ago - before lockdown. Then there was a lot of uncertainty this year as to whether it was on or not.

@jayasimha78 I think these neighborhood displays are awesome. I’m partial to Halloween decorated streets, but seeing how an entire block can come together and coordinate for something special is really nice to see.

I wonder if this event has to be disclosed to potential home buyers on Christmas Tree Lane? :joy: .

@JustJake These houses are built around 1920s, with Average Size of 1600 Sq Ft and they cost around 1.4M - 1.7M. I am pretty sure it will be on disclosure!

This is what I have been missing from NYC @jayasimha78 . In Astoria, NYC, our neighbor when we lived there, they took decorations seriously, especially for Christmas and Halloween. Although I don’t celebrate Christmas but I can see how it brings joy to so many. The spurs of colors just make me happy!

Here in Wellington and the surrounding cities, we have warm Christmas. I have to say I don’t really see the decoration in my neighborhood but check out what I have enjoyed so far during Christmas in Welly HERE

Have a happy holiday!

@indahnuria That’s right, some streets in US they really make a coordinated effort to decorate their houses. The streets become holiday attraction. Interesting know that is not the case in wellington. But Christmas tree festival in the airport is something unique.

Wow beautiful photos @jayasimha78

That is interesting to read the whole block decorates. I can imagine if I lived there, I would to start buying Christmas decorations so I’m not the only house dark on the block. :green_heart:

I love the decorative gif you made as well. It looks like it could be the cover of a Hallmark Christmas card. :hearts:
