The long Russian new year holidays are coming to the end.Summing up, I want to say that I had a great time . I visited several Scandinavian countries, Finland, Sweden, Denmark.
Once again I visited the magnificent St. Petersburg. The festive city is very beautiful at Christmas.People walk along the festively decorated streets of the city, watch interesting concerts and performances. The city is like a Christmas story. ,you can see everywhere the heroes of the famous work of Pyotr Tchaikovsky- “the Nutcracker” - the Mouse king in a smart suit.and other characters. On the Palace square of St. Petersburg-a huge Christmas tree, next to a carriage drawn by horses, Santa Claus and snow maiden amuse children and give gifts.
I can tell you ,dear friends about my holidays more in details.
thank you for a very interesting and correct question, although I understand that you wrote with humor and I appreciated it. The question is really serious - - - all Petersburgers really love cats ,and treat them with respect. And there are really a lot of cats and cats in St. Petersburg-they are all Pets. So it happened with a long history, when even when under Tsar Peter the Great, cats were brought to St. Petersburg to destroy the hordes of rats. During The siege of Leningrad, hundreds of cats saved the lives of many residents, there as mice and rats ate up the meager food supplies during wars. In history there is such an episode-when in the besieged Leningrad bred rats in huge numbers-adopted a resolution that from the Yaroslavl region to bring four cars “meowing division”, which would have joined the battle with the rat regiments. Cats and cats coped with this task successfully.,since they not only saved the city from starvation, but also from the plague. You know that in Petersburg there is a Hermitage where the most famous paintings of artists are stored.Cats since the time of Queen Elizabeth, since 1745, protect Museum valuables in the Museum’s storerooms from damage to exhibits. There is also a holiday of Hermitage cats in St. Petersburg, which has been celebrated since 2008 ,and many tourists come to this holiday. The Hermitage cats are marked on the allowance and are popular and loved among the townspeople. There are many monuments to cats in the city on the Neva. Come to our Northern capital and you will learn a lot of interesting things and make beautiful pictures! And as for the Mouse King, this is just one of the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky “the Nutcracker”. Since the year has Come -the year of the Rat, this character is on Nevsky Prospekt. Here’s the story. And cats have always been and will be favourite characters of works, will inspire artists and sculptors to create an image that is so loved by the residents of St. Petersburg.
Sure there are a lot of tourists in Saint Petersburg at this time. There is Christmas markets in Petersburg, but I was not there. I like to walk along Nevsky Prospect, and visit Dvorsova Square.
I know some of the history of cats in Saint Petersburg, I know that among the treasures guarded by cats there is also a painting that I want to look at, Garcon avec un chien. 1905. Pablo Ruiz y Picasso.
Thanks a lot for the explanations but also for the picture
