As we flip our calendars to December and the morning temperatures are getting cooler, it’s almost time for Christmas. One thing I am thankful for is the wonderful Local Guides community.
To kick off the countdown to Christmas and to get into the holiday spirit with my fellow Local Guides, I created some festive edible food art.
Two Snowmen
In colder regions and in some northern areas of Arizona, the children and adults enjoy getting together to have fun in the snow- and one of the fun activities is making snowmen.
To make my edible snowmen, I used the sections of a boiled egg for the body. The stick arms are made of pretzels. To create the illusion of stars and snowfall, I emptied out the pretzel crumbs and salt from the bag. For the button eyes and buttons on their midsections, I used dried seaweed pieces. A small scoop of rice beneath serves as the snow, and the black plate is the backdrop of the night sky.
A Christmas tree is often placed in households as decor, and gifts are placed underneath to be opened on Christmas Day.
As Christmas Trees are green, I used green peas and placed them in a triangular shape. For the trunk, I grouped some pretzels together. The curly boiled Ramen noodles dotted with spicy red Sriracha represents the lighting and you can imagine tiny red bulbs. The final touch of the star on top of the tree is made with two pieces of boiled corn kernels.
A round wreath is a popular decoration hung on doors in a wreath. Typically it’s round and covered with decorations. Similarly, the pizza has that round shape, and I made sure to put the toppings in a circular formation too. As I wanted to make it with the Christmas colors of red, white, and green- I used sliced green peppers, sliced red peppers, and sliced chicken along with red tomato sauce and white Mozzarella cheese. I baked it in the oven for 15 minutes at 425 degrees and had hearty pizza to snack on for the weekend.
@AZ_2021 Those snowmen are adorbs! But, I think you just gave me a guaranteed way to get my kids to eat all of their peas! Pea Trees will be on plates this weekend, probably with cheese in place of the noodles. Thanks for cookin’ this up this post for us!
@AZ_2021 Wow, your Christmas food art is amazing! The creativity you’ve shown in transforming simple ingredients into these festive masterpieces is truly inspiring. I love how you’ve captured the essence of winter with your charming egg snowmen, complete with pretzel arms and a backdrop of stars.
What a great thought @AZ_2021 with Christmas round the corner. The food and art looks great. Kudos to your efforts that goes behind! The pizza looks delicious! Thank you for sharing with us this wonderful post!
Your photo is super creative and festive too! The decorations on the board are so cute too. I love the salami and cheese candy cane idea. I will have to try that fun snack idea soon.
