Christmas Dinner at My Favourite Restaurant- Cvoya Kompania.

Christmas is a festive day we celebrated with friends and family. In certain countries it usually a big event, where chicken, ram and even cow are slaughtered for the celebration. I don’t know this day; I am getting concerned whether is the right thing to do or not.

Anyway, in my family it is a time of get together, it was an occasion when my father always slaughtered Ram, cooked big pot of Jollof Rice and shared food with neighbours. Some of them even returned the courtesy in sharing their Christmas food also with us. It was expectedly fun filled season. This was many years back.

It was this feeling I had on Christmas morning that made me decide to go out to on celebration. And I don’t feel like waiting for Orthodox Christmas which comes on 7th of January of every year. Of course, I will celebrate the Orthodox Christmas and New year as well but I would not want 25th of December to pass by as a normal day.

So, it was in the spirit of Christmas that I called a taxi to go for a dinner at my favourite restaurant. Earlier before, I had wanted to choose a new restaurant just to have another taste and experience somewhere else, I had called all known in restaurants city but was surprised they were all booked out. Even Cvoya kompania branch in my street was not left out, I have no option than to booked a seat at another branch another in an area far away from my place.

Once, I arrived at the restaurant at the stipulated time, dropped my winter coat at the reception and was ushered to my reserved seat, a friendly waitress presented us menu and was kind enough to give us ample time to make order.

This branch of Cvoya kompania is far bigger than the one in area. Even thought it was my second time here, I still see it new and relaxing. Its warm modern interior décor is made up of cool paintings and pictures. The pictures were hung at every corner, even the rest room was not left out.

Exactly as I mentioned in my previous post , Cvoya kompania is one restaurant that resembled a sitting room, so comfortable you end up spending hours eating without realizing it.

I was seated near the restaurant bar and watching how it was well-furnished, liquor filled and the hanging glass cups from the ceiling. It was bustling with people who had come to celebrating weddings. I was not in mood to take alcohol so I was pleased to order Orange drink and glass of water.

Meanwhile, the waitress soon returned with our order one after another. First,it was Salad with shrimp tempura then Poke with salmon and shrimp, Gyoza with pork, Rice with shrimps and vegetables, Russkaya Skoblyanka (pork, potatoes and mushroom cuisine), Pork with potatoes and creamy sauce, Sea-buckthorn passion fruit -drink, Orange with honey suckle- drink, Bedtime story- dessert, Pistachio with raspberries- dessert , till we no longer want to it.

The food were delicious and well presented, more than I can cooked at home. The restaurant I always suspect must be hiring top chefs from somewhere unknown.

After two hours at Cvoya kompania , I decided it was time to leave and called a taxi straight away. Back home, I was fulfilled celebrating Christmas only not to the level I had imagined.

Hello @Emmik20

Merry :christmas_tree: Christmas :evergreen_tree: :evergreen_tree: !

Nice post about celebrating Christmas and excellent restaurant in your city.

You write so warm about your family and father.

Sorry, I suppose you keep in touch with them in this day on video?

Do you miss for them?

I understand that you celebrate two Christmas -Catholic and Orthodox. -it is great!

Do you know how many dishes must be on the family table on Christmas Eve?

And what dish must have family on Orthodox Christmas?

Do you know Russian traditions on Christmas?

I wish you nice weekend, happy holidays!

May Christmas be full of moments of warmth and love and happiness!

May Christmas bring you contentment and joy!

Best wishes from Moscow,

Inna

Hi @helga19 Merry Christmas :christmas_tree: :santa: :bellhop_bell: :snowflake:. I still have fond memories of Christmas back home. How my Dad used to throw a big party…but that was a long time .

My family, I missed them a lot especially my mother. It is been long time I saw her. My brothers have gone to North America . Only mother remain at home.

It is a good thing that I have privilege of celebrating two Christmas. I enjoy having to celebrate twice.

As for Russian tradition, I don’t know all of them but my partner has been teaching me all along.

Nice description of your experience at the restaurant @Emmik20

Hi @C_T Thanks for the comment. The restaurant is my favourite in the city. So decided to go there for Christmas celebration. Trust me, they never disappointed. And are even getting better at services. That’s why I wrote this post not long after returning home.
