Christian Cemetery on a Late Autumn Morning

Hello everyone ,hope all of you are doing well . I am Aminur Rahman Khan , from Bangladesh , living in Dhaka city. Today I am coming here to let you know about one of the oldest Christian Cemetery in Dhaka city, established in 16th century .

Today (04/12/2020) I wake up early from my bed, then call one of my school ( Saint Gregory High School ) friend for breakfast together , then go to Shankhari Bazaar , very common place in Old Dhaka , both of we take our breakfast at Omullo Mistanno Bhandar . Then we make a plan for visit Christian cemetery Dhaka, wari .

The exact location of the Christian Cemetery is at Wari , It is just beside from Salauddin Specialized Hospital Limited and Wari Police station . Also its just walking distance from Baldha Garden . Everyone is not allow to enter this cemetery , if any of your relatives or known buried inside the cemetery then you can allow for entry.

This Christian Cemetery was mainly developed for the European traders and their family , this cemetery is around 400 years old, thus most members of East India Company lie buried there.

After entering the gate , I find two different types of architecture of the graves , one part is older one , the holy cross or the pillar beside the grave has baroque style, just like the Greek or roman style. Other part of the graves are newly build. Most of those are looks like our modern building structure.

At first , I will show or tell you about older graves:

After entering , I find several tombs and large stone cover graves , which I will show you on my photos. All of them are several hundred years old grave , many of them almost going to ruin , I am trying to find their name but I am not. Let me show you some photos , one by one with little information what i see today.

One of the tomb is of Major General Hamilton Vetch of the Bengal Army, who died on the 11th June 1865

Another older grave , more than 240 years age, let me show you,

Another Tomb of Elizabeth, the wife of Marker David, who died on 18th November 1878, and her aged 29 years , 8 months and 6 days. Let me show her tomb.

Another memory of Francis Thomas Platts , Died 5th September 1882, let me show ,

Another legend memory , may be from Scotland , let me show ,

Now i will show you T****he oldest grave there belongs to Reverend Joseph Paget, minister of Calcutta, who died there in 26th March 1724 at the age of 26. This is the oldest grave in here, Just wait, i will show you,

Now I will show you another parts of this Christian cemetery , its new build , modern architecture touch ,

Now i will show you Our School ( [Saint Gregorys High School](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Gregory%27s_High_School) ) Head masters Brother Robi Purification CSC graveyard , he died 2020, he was a great leader, educationist, visionary, kindhearted, successful Principal.

I hope, all of you like this post , if you have any query about Dhaka Christian Cemetery , let me know , i will reply as much as i know.

In conclude, i want to say , Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it , so do good work, and you will live forever in many hearts.

A visit to an old cremetery seems creepy. However, it’s an interesting experience to share. Thank you for sharing @sweetnovember99

By the way, you said that not everyone is allowed to enter the cremetery. Do you or perhaps your friend has relatives buried inside?
