Choco- Oreo Torta

As you may have read, last year, my sister Jesi, made a similar post talking about a typical cake made in Argentina, usually for birthdays, call Chocotorta. (https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Chocotorta-Typical-Argentine-birthday-cake/m-p/1473313). Now I will talk about a variation of this cake, where it’s added some oreos cookies.

This version became known about 10 years ago, in some bakeries in our city. After that, people started imitating it and making their own versions. Here is ours.

You start covering a font (we use a circled one) with some butter paper, so you can take the cake out of it easily.

Then, you add the mix between cream cheese, cooking cream and dulce de leche (we use 500gr of dulce de leche, 400gr of cream cheese and 250gr of cooking cream). You mix it up until you cannot see the difference textures, and you put it in the font where you’ll make the cake.

Once you have covered all the font with the mix, you have to start adding the “chocolinas” or the chocolate cookies you want. It’s important to wet the cookies first (I wet them in milk, my mother in chocolate milk, and some friends of mine in coffee or milk coffee). You have to cover all the font with the cookies, breaking them if it’s necessary. Once you have your chocolinas layer, you cover it with more of the mix you have made.

You can use one or two chocolinas layers, and then add the oreo’s one. We usually make the cake using 2 layers of chocolinas, 1 of oreos and then 2 more layers of chocolinas. Because oreos are already double. But you can do it as you want. Just be sure to wet the cookies, and to cover the whole cake with them.

Once you have all your font filled, you have to add a final dulce de leche mixed layer. And put the whole font in the freezer until it’s completely hard (about 8hs).

Once the cake is frozen, it’s easy to take the font out and place it in a new plate. You have to be careful of not leaving any paper on.
Here comes the funniest part. You can choose how do you want to decorate it. I usually do it as the first choco-oreo cake I’ve seen, like 10 years ago. With some white chocolate in the top of it, and broken oreos so you can see what is in the cake.

Now, you are ready to put some candles on or whatever you want, and to sing the happy birthday!

Let me know if you have tried it, and if you are making it. I’d love to see your pics.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my first post.

Dai

I’m leaving you with a pic of how is the cake seen in the inside.

Hi @Daiulich a.k.a @Jesi 's sister! Nice to know you and welcome to Local Guides Connect.

Oreo… Cookie… Chocolate… Wow… All of them is PARADISE for me. I love it!

Thank you for sharing this non-baked cake menu. In Argentina, do the cake shops still sell this kind of cake while people could make it by themselves?

What is dulce de leche means?

Hi! @Velvel nice to meet you! I know my sister is kind of famous here!

Chocotorta and choco oreo torta are cakes that you cannot like, so I’m glad even not argentinians like them.

Yes! cake shops sell them, and they are also common desserts in restaurants. But I mean, shops sell everything you can easily make on your own on a more expensive price, just for lazy people.

Dulce de leche is like caramel, but with denser texture. I have read it as milk jam, and I think its well explained.

Well explained! Thank you @Daiulich for the information. You make me drooling and want to eat the sweet things right now.

Do you often make cakes by yourself?

Hi @Bobiisha thank you for asking! Before the freezer I did it in half and hour, more or less. And after I took it out, 15 minutes or less. It’s an easy/fast cake :slightly_smiling_face:
