In 2018-2019 I was backpacking around Southeast Asia since I had 2.5 months of holidays during my exchange year in South Korea. I ended up in Penang, Malaysia during the Chinese New year. In Europe this holiday is almost nonexistent so I did not expect that so many restaurants and places were closed because of that. By studying some blogs and google maps reviews I realized that I had to go to the Kek Lok Si Temple since they decorate the whole Buddhist temple with lantern and lights. It was magical, even though there were a lot of people the atmosphere was calm and spiritual. This place was one of the highlights of my trip and I probably wouldn’t have visited it if I wasn’t a local guide.
