Chilli Paneer #CommunityChefChallenge

Chilli Paneer is another popular dish in India. There are two versions, Chilli Paneer Dry and Chilli Paneer Gravy.

This post is about the Chilli Paneer Dry, which is generally an appetizer, goes very well with Beer.

Paneer is a fresh cheese very common in subcontinent. You can make this easily at home. If you want to skip that effort, you can also buy in the store. Specially in San Francisco Bay area most Indian Grocery store carry various brands of Paneer. So not a problem to find Paneer in stores.

Here are Ingredients for Chilli Paneer.

  • Paneer

  • All purpose Flour & Corn Flour

  • Black pepper

  • Bell Pepper (colored)

  • Onion (optional, I did not use it)

  • Green Chili

  • Ginger Paste

  • Garlic Paste

  • Tomato Ketchup

  • Soy Sauce

  • Green Onions for Garnishing

Cut Paneer in to small cubes as shown in picture.

  • Mix All purpose flour, Corn Flour, Salt and black pepper, water (instead of pepper you can use Green Chilli, Ginger, Garlic paste as well), and make a thick paste.

  • Add Paneer to the above paste, mix it, so that paneer gets coated well.

  • Then shallow fry paneer in a pan, 3-4 spoons of oil, till paneer becomes golden brown. Then set aside the paneer.

In the same pan, add 2-3 spoons of oil

  • Saute Green Chilli, Bell peppers, add garlic and ginger paste.

  • Add Tomato ketchup and soy sauce

  • Add previously shallow fried Paneer to this

  • Finally add Green Onions

Chilli Paneer is ready!
