CHIJMES, the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ)

During my travel in Singapore, I had the opportunity to visit CHIJMES on February 22. The tour was organized by Society of Tourist Guides (Singapore) to celebrate the International Tourist Guide Day 2020.

CHIJMES (pronounced “chimes”, acronym definition: Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus and ‘MES’ was added intentionally to make it sounds like chimes) is a historic building complex in Singapore, which began life as a Catholic convent known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ). The complex is located at Victoria Street in the Downtown Core, within the Central Area, Singapore’s central business district.

The video is the combination of the photographs of CHIJMES those were taken during my tour. I invite all of you to enjoy the video.

@shahidrh it was a Catholic convent, what is it now?

It’s eye-catching

@Ewaade_3A Actually now they do some additional structural development by keeping the older structure unchanged. They use these as some government offices and open some restaurants for the tourist.

@shahidrh I wonder why that had to happen. Thanks for replying

So far I have seen they do that. But I have seen that they keep it’s originality like, original design which I like.

Okay, thank you @shahidrh

@shahidrh , there are many more places to explore in Singapore. And also the wide variety of food to choose from. Hope you got a chance to come back to Singapore again in the future.
