Chicago visit

Going for a week end on Jan 20th. Any ideas on what to visit? Walking by the lake maybe a bit cold. So far I have Hanckock building and Millenium park

The Art Institute is a must see in my book. Next to Millennium Park. The free guide books have tours based on how much time you have. Lots of iconic pieces. http://www.artic.edu/

Ditto Art Institute. Chicago Cultural Center is right across the street and is a beautiful building. Lots of Tiffany glass and history as well as free art exhibits. No fee to enter and a great place to get ideas for the rest of the city. I would also take the Southshore train the Hyde Park/University of Chicago. This was the location of the worlds fair (Devil in the White City) and has the Robie House, an early Frank Lloyd Wright, great cafes and a free Oriental museum with several mummies of note. The library built over the sight where the first atom was split is also interesting. The campus itself is beautiful and reminiscent of English universities. If they are running hands down my favorites is the river Architectural tour. Other than to say you’ve been there I would skip the mag mile.

If you’re bringing kids, definitely check out Maggie Daley Park. Other places to visit are Navy Pier, Eataly, and Water Tower Place.
