Chicago Meet Up!

Hello! I’m new to this community, but I would love to start a meet up of some sort here in the city! (Hopefully once the weather warms up some!) If there’s anyone that is a veteran at local guide meet ups, I would love to collaborate to come up with a fun idea. Thanks!

Sounds fun - I’m not sure I know of anyone organizing any meetups but it might be overdue. Maybe sometime in later March/Early April? We could organize a neighborhood cleanup or do a walking tour of street art!

Those both sound like so much fun! I would love to possible brainstorm some ideas with you if you would like? The timing sounds great as well, walking around in freezing temps doesn’t sound too appealing right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am super new to this community and I would love to meet other Google Local Guides here in Chicago. Let’s get together and exchange ideas and experiences.

I am thrill for what’s coming to Chicago :heart::heart: with all of us here getting together.

Yeah I’d be in. The weather is getting good now, like a walking tour or something…

We just need to coordinate the basics: Where, When, What, Time, Etc. June-July ?? Saturday Morning/Afternoon ???

Riverwalk, Grand Lux Cafe?

Looking forward to meeting you ALL.

Hey all - how about this as a suggestion:

Saturday, May 11th at 11am we meet downtown for brunch at The Goddess and the Baker (33 S. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603) and then do a walking tour of the Big Wall art murals along south Wabash (http://wabashartscorridor.org/bigwalls/)

Alternate dates or ideas?
Tara

All that works for me, but while we’re down there, I would like to see the Riverwalk, because I haven’t seen it since they’ve been doing all the construction.

Love the plan + the Riverwalk. The only suggestion I have is the date. Not available May. Can we do a Saturday in June? That way we can invite more Local Guides. How that sounds?

June 8th or June 22nd.

Best,

That sounds great! I think the plan is perfect, and maybe June 8th? Enough time to have it all planned out fully.

That’s fine for me! June 8th, 11 am 33 S Wabash, brunch and walking tour afterwards, art and riverwalk…

Sorry to be a pain, but I can’t on June 8th - how about June 22, as someone else suggested?

That’s fine with me

Saturday, June 22nd at 11am we meet downtown for brunch at The Goddess and the Baker (33 S. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603) and then do a walking tour of the Big Wall art murals along south Wabash (http://wabashartscorridor.org/bigwalls/) and then we can complete our meet up at Chicago Riverwalk. Love it. Please SAVE THE DATE and see you soon. Counting the days to meet you ALL.

Will we have a reservation under someone’s name? How will we find each other at the restaurant?

Tamara, Do we need a reservation? How can we know how many are coming for sure?

Hey all - this isn’t a place that takes reservations and I don’t know how many people will be there. (maybe folks can reply to this and let everyone know if they plan to make it?) Let’s say we’ll wait around till 11:20 for anyone who is late - then we’ll go to wherever we’re eating/walking?

I will probably be early and I will need to head home around 2:30.

I will have a bright lime green jacket and here’s my photo:

If there isn’t sitting room for everyone, we can go over to Millenium Park to eat, or the Cultural Center, depending on the weather. (There is a chance of rain, so bring an umbrella)

Tara

We all should bring a Local Guides Logo Printed to show and to display around the table.

I can bring name tags and markers
