Chhath Puja

Chhath puja is a cultural heritage of Indian state Bihar. Chhath puja will happen during winters in the month of November each year. In Chhath puja basically devotees worship the god sun (surya bhagwan). This festival is totally natural in nature celebrated with all the biodegradable things such as sugarcane, diyas, fruits etc. This festival is 3 days long. Devotees go to the riverside and pray to the god when rises and dawn. Devotees keep yourself without water and food for 36 hours.

@Nyainurjanah basically fasting is just to keep yourself pure and hygiene. As per shastra at the time the sun rays create adverse effect on humans so to avoid that effect fasting is done and with proper cleanliness and purity.
