Every year in the spring, a Total dictation is held around the world. This test verifies the knowledge of the Russian language in the world. We write test, which check our knowledge of punctuations and spellings.
The first Total dictation took place in 2004 in Novosibirsk (a city in Russia). The first foreign city was Boston, USA.
This year it was attended by 80 countries. In each of these countries there were special places where you can come and write a dictation to test your knowledge of the Russian language.
Since 2014, it has been possible to write dictation online.

The purpose of this event is to test the knowledge of the Russian language around the world!

And what about your country, there are any activities to test the knowledge of your native language?

Also for Dutch there is such a dictation every year. It has even been broadcasted on TV. I have never taken part, though, although I have a degree I linguistics @Tatiana812

Great initiative indeed@Tatiana812. Language for business, employment and study has been geting the priority among us, many of us are about to forget our mother tongue.Thanks for sharing information and pic.
