Hi,
I’m gathering to see if there are people interested for a food themed meetup as there’s a Thai food festival next weekend at Marina Bay, Singapore.
Check out the details here http://thesmartlocal.com/read/chang-sensory-trails-2018 and let’s discuss!

Hello @JulienH,
Looks like you will have a great meet-ups, especially with Thai food in the menu. Can’t wait for the recap of your meet-ups.
I am actually going to Singapore in October and really looking forward to taste the awesome local foods there. I am open for recommendations.
Hi @AngieYC
Welcome and hope you have a great time.
I would recommend the following areas to go:
If there’s any specific thing you are looking for, just say =)
Hello @JulienH,
Thank you for your recommendations, I personally can’t wait to try all of the local foods there in Singapore from hainanese chicken rice, bak kut teh and many more.
Because wherever I go, I always keep an eye on restaurants that mostly only local people know of, and that is usually the best.
@AngieYC
Sure we do love our local food, but the nice restaurants are also a part of the overall total food scene here. We have such a wide range from roadside stalls to Michelin star fine dining.
Chicken Rice - Boon Tong Kee chain is quite consistent, but I personally love one shop at Katong Shopping Centre basement. Way too many good chicken rice options around. There’s also the 1 Michelin star shop, but I think the queue is too long and overhyped. You can start a war with Chicken Rice comparison. Also we have a hilarious instagram account in SG of one guy who tries a different chicken rice shop every single day, I think he is at number 200 at least.
Bak Kut Teh - Founder’s Bak Kut Teh at Balestier. Apparently famous singer Jay Chou’s favorite and he fly here from Taiwan to eat this.
Hello @JulienH ,
I need to check out the Instagram account about the chicken rice war, must be very interesting.
The bak kut teh I tried before was Song Fa, if you know about it? I will try your recommendation though to try something different.
Well check it out here then: https://www.instagram.com/kuey.png/
Hm Song Fa bak kut teh? It’s good too. If I’m not wrong this is their original shop and then they have branches island wide now.
Here’s another if you’re in the East side, quite surprised by their dry bak kut teh.
Try beancurd for dessert. We went here after our meetup last week. Traditional style, not those eeky new fancy jelly beancurd.
Hello @JulienH ,
Wow, thank you so much for all of your suggestions and for sure will try the beancurd dessert !
