600 years old architectural heritage and world renowned Jain Temple and a favorite landmark for foreign tourists. The Ranakpur Jain Temple has various temples such as Chaumukha temple, Suryadeva temple, Parsavantha temple and Amba Mara temple in its vicinity. It has 1,444 pillars with unique carvings on each pillar. The main diety is Lord Rishabhnatha (Adinath Dada), 1st Tirthankara of Jainism.
As per Wikipedia, the temples, Māru-Gurjara Architecture show the deep understanding of structures and refined skills of Rajasthani craftmen of bygone era. It has all the 24 Tirthankaras in the temple and Bhairav deva Idol. It has a small Shiv ling temple. It is completely surrounded by Forests of Aravallis. (Traveling during night is not recommended, as local people said that there are chances of wild animals coming on the roads towards the temple from Udaipur)
The environment is absolutely peaceful, serene and calm. I saw many foreign tourist meditating for hours inside the temple. The temple also has facility of a guided tour in different foreign languages for the tourists. It is an important Tirth Kshetra for Jains. It is also a must visit for all the art and architecture enthusiasts, photographers, scholars and historians and tourists. It was strange to see that almost 80% of the crowd in the temple was from foreign, enjoying the carvings, peace and tranquility. It has the facility of Dharmashala (accommodation) and Bhojanshala (Food).
