The ancient city of Bakhchisaray impresses with its exquisite Eastern beauty, which seems to have frozen for centuries and has been preserved in its original form to this day. What amazing and unique houses, with ivy and grapes, bright flower beds around, nice colorful restaurant with delicious national local cuisine, souvenir shops, where products made of stone, wood and bronze, decorated with elegant carvings. These are national costumes, these are books that tell about the culture and sights of this region, marble fountains in the Khan’s Palace attract the eye. In Bakhchisarai, you can see quaint stone " sphinxes “that can be compared to the” sphinxes " of Easter island, which point to the centuries-old history of this region.
The Crimean Khan’s Palace is the main attraction of this city., it is listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage. It can be compared to the Top Capa Palace in Istanbul. The Palace began to be built in 1503, then completed and updated. Its territory is 4 hectares., here are the harem, Falcon tower, Great Khan mosque, the Khan’s cemetery, bath Sary-Guzel., the mausoleum dilara Bikech, the art Museum and Fountain of tears.
The fountain of tears attracts special attention of tourists, it was written by the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in his poem “the fountain of Bakhchisaray”.This fountain is a monument to the love of the cruel Khan of Crimea-Giray for his wife Dilyara Bikech. In the cold stone of marble master Omer embodied the feelings of the grieving Khan. Drop of water fall on two roses and flows down through the bowls of the fountain. At the bottom of the fountain is a snail-a symbol of a doubt.
There is a beautiful legend about the Fountain of tears. Khan was very saddened by the death of the woman he loved. He asked the master from Iran to make the stone cry, as a man’s heart cries with stingy tears. so that the stone would bring the Khan’s sorrow through the centuries. The master said:"If your cruel heart is crying, the stone will cry, if you have a soul, the stone will have a soul. The stone will cry burning and stingy male tears. On a marble slab, the master carved the petals of a flower, in the middle he carved a human eye, from which a heavy tear should fall on the chest, and drip from Cup to Cup, as a human tear rolls down the cheeks and chest. Here’s the fountain of Bakhchisarai—crying day and night for centuries.
