Since moving to Sydney I’ve been amazed by some of the truly unique and beautiful hangouts and pubs in the city. However I have also noticed that there are many that are bland, utilitarian and utterly devoid of charm. These are drinking holes more than they are opportunities to share experiences. I’ve also noticed that there is a correlation between the number of craft beers these places sell and the level of charm they exhibit. To this end, where appropriate I also will mention both elements in my reviews of pubs and restaurants. It’s a simple but effective rule of thumb.
