Charlestown, travelling to the past

This week some friends came to visit me. one of them used to live in Cornwall, so she was the guide and took us to many interesting places, but on this post Im going to write about Charlestown. Don’t get confused with the Charleston dance, lol.

Charlestown near St Austell, famed for its collection of tall ships and traditional appearance, has long caught the attention of location managers. As well as standing in for Poldark’s Truro, it also plays the role of Falmouth where Captain Andrew Blamey lives and sails from. His apparent Falmouth abode overlooks Charlestown’s inner harbour and it is from here that Verity Poldark elopes with him to the disapproval of her family. Charlestown beach and slipway also doubles up as St Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly in the scenes that see Ross meet up with the exiled Mark Daniels in series two.

Poldark is a british TV drama show set in 18th-century Cornwall. Ross Poldark is passionate about turning round the fortunes of his late father’s estate. Adapted from Winston Graham’s novels

There is a Museum also

Nice day trip, hope you enjoyed the pics as I enjoyed the trip.

Great post @Johnny11 thanks for sharing. I love the lines and shapes of a barquentine ship - the Epoch is beautiful.
