Chao Phraya - Major River in Thailand

Welcome back Connect friends to another post in #monthlytopic series. I can’t believe this post is the 3rd one in the series already. My previous posts in the series are:

  1. A good place for a rainy day : The Kottage Cafe, Thailand

  2. Pagoda made of Giant Oyster Shells - Wat Chedi Hoi, Thailand

The topic of August 2019 is A river in your neighborhood. Thanks to @HiroyukiTakisawa for choosing the topic of this month. So, for this post, I would like to introduce you to Chao Phraya - Major River in Thailand

The river somehow has created a large, flat land-form in the center of Thailand. Besides Bangkok, it also flows through Pathum Thani, my hometown, and then into the Gulf of Thailand. That is why it is the major river in Thailand. It is also a main source of raw water supply for Provincial Waterworks Authority in the central part of Thailand.

The 1st thing I think about when it comes to Chao Phraya River is Eating. There are many restaurants and cafes along the river in my area. So my sister and I went to On The River Cafe to have some drinks and enjoy the river view.

The view of Chao Phraya River around the cafe is beautiful. The river view really makes our dessert and drinks more delicious. We can also grab a drink, sit outside and of course enjoy the view.

During the time at the cafe, we also observed that someones were doing water activities. We saw standing paddle board, jet ski and jet boat.

There are many temples along the Chao Phraya River as well. We also went to Wat Bot, a famous temple along the river. I was amazed by how big of the big Buddha is.

One of popular activities at temples along the Chao Phraya River is fish feeding. And yes, you can feed the fish at this temple as well. This is a nice activity at the temple and it is fun.

While walking along the river, we found a peaceful spot in one of the corners of the temple. We spent some time there to enjoy the view and also enjoy ourselves.

In summary, these are activities I do around Chao Phraya, a river in my neighborhood, the topic of August 2019. Thank you so much for your attention to this post. I hope you enjoy it.

Do you have a photo of a river in your neighborhood to share with us? What activities do you do around a river in your area? Please leave a comment in the section below. I would love to read it.

I enjoyed reading your post about Chao Phraya, the river of life, @Ant_Bad_Yogi . It looks crowded with fish, beside the Wat Bot temple. Are they in a frenzy during feeding time?

@HiroyukiTakisawa Thank you for your compliments. You are so right. Thai people love to live near a river so they can commute and use the water in daily life.

On The River Cafe is so cool. It is on a kind of floating building. It is comfortable and the view of Chao Phraya River is so beautiful.

If you have a chance to visit Thailand, I would recommend you to visit a restaurant or Cafe along a river. You will enjoy a meal and also enjoy the view.

@AdamGT Wow, this is cool. I’m so glad you enjoyed reading the post. You are totally right, Chao Phraya is a river of life. We travel by boat, use water for agriculture and also for daily life.

There is countless fish at the temple. And yes, they are in a frenzy during the feeding time. Sometimes they splash water to us.

If you have a chance to visit Thailand, I would recommend you to feed the fish in a temple along a river. I’m sure you will have fun.
