The location for photos uploading in google maps are taken based on the location history of the phone. However, sometimes, the photo of the place and the location data isn’t accurate and the photos uploaded are of different place than the actual location. There should be an option to select the location of the photo before uploading in Google Maps.
Hello @Alphagirl , this is already possible: when Google proposes you to add a picture to a place from your photo album, there is a small triangle next to the name of the proposed place. If you click that, you can select another place.

As mentioned above this feature is available.
Photos sometimes include information about where they were taken. If there’s a location attached to your photo, Google Maps might suggest that you add the photo to that location. In the Location info added to your photos article you can learn more about this.
